Are there any versions before version 1 in this video? If so, tell me as much about them as you can.

first time watching version 3, seems odd, but put more emphasis into showing the "black hole sun" i cant tell which of theother 2 is what i watched originall, it was wtv was playing on mtv/vh1 when it came out

So they DID edit the video, I wasn't crazy!

I like the first two versions best because in all the cutaways, they aren’t using the same sky over and over like in the final version. I also prefer the non-CG. I also like the color grading in the second version but that could be down to VHS oversaturating things.

Don't mess with perfection. They had it right on version 1. Each subsequent version was a downgrade.

I like some of the CGI black hole effects in Version 3 and while I'm all for adding little extra bits (especially if it's stuff that should've been there before), I think it was overdone. I also don't understand certain changes, like some of the faces. As a kid, the woman at 4:47 terrified me as much as the woman with the fish (which I'm glad is the same on all versions). As I got older, I learned to find this video and it's faces humorous, now anytime I see version 3, I wonder what was wrong with the original and feel bummed that anything was changed. Still love this video, but also still partial to Version 1.

While I was born in 1999, there was still bleedover from the grunge era into the early 000s and yeah this video while it didn’t scare me it was pretty unerving. I think the versions that were played a lot was versions 2 and 3 around that time. Looking back the video is almost Lovecraftian with a Cosmic Horror Black Hole Sun causing a rift on a small Surburb town that drives people to insanity and sucks up everything in sight. Love the song, video, the Superunknown album and Soundgarden. RIP Chris Cornell

Version 1 is my favorite, but when searching for it, All I ever find is Version 3 (which is ok i guess) not nearly as good as original

The version 3 IS THE BEST

There's an earlier version. I remember the girl spitting out the ice cream without any effects, because it startled me when the version with the effect came out. 100% sure because I had it recorded on VHS and watched the music video 100x. I recorded all new songs that came out on MTV so it might have been the first airing. Edit : Watched it again and I also remember the guys laying on their back swatting the bees, there were no bees in the original version....I remember that because I was thinking "what are they doing???".
